Porters Network Part of St. John’s Most Successful Corn Roast!

Corn Eating ContestPorters Network is proud to have sponsored and participated in the 10th Annual St. John Corn Roast, which took place Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the Community Outpatient Center, 9660 Wicker Avenue in St John. Porters is a member of the two organizations that host this event – the St. John Chamber of Commerce and the Tri-Town Rotary.

“For the past few years, we have been extremely involved in sponsoring and supporting the corn roast and other events for these two prestigious organizations that do so much good for our community,” said Melissa Garcia, marketing director, Porters Network. “We not only support the event but are in integral part in planning and working the event to ensure its success,” she added. Melissa serves on the St. John Chamber Board of Directors and was recently elected Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Tri-Town Rotary. This Year’s Corn Roast was the organizations’ most successful turn-out to date!

The family-friendly featured a DJ, contests and prizes, a bounce house for the kiddies, 27 local vendors and, of course, all the corn you can eat, a hot dog or sausage, chips and drink for $8 per person at the event (FREE for kids 3 feet and under). Porters also sponsored the “Name that Tune” contest for the event. Other contests included a hula hoop contest sponsored by Barb Gulden’s American Family Insurance and a corn-eating contest sponsored by People’s Bank. The Grimmer Middle School Dance Team provided dancing entertainment for the crowd, which was the largest in the event’s 10-year history. All proceeds will benefit local high school scholarship programs.
